David has been in the thoroughbred business forty years. Early on he spent two years with trainer Ted Long as pupil assistant. Forever grateful, as Ted was a proper horseman, of the old school.
David worked as an agent before going to Dubai. In his last couple of years he was contracted as technical advisor to the architects constructing Nad al Sheba racecourse for Sheikh Maktoum al Maktoum.
On his return he reformed the agency. Since that time the agency has expanded to include around the world business.
He was fortunate in working for some of the Ruling family from Dubai, including Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid and purchased Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed's first horse outside of Dubai. "For Your Eyes Only" won a conditional stakes and the prestigious £100k William Hill at Goodwood. He was also racing manager to the owner of Shaamit who won the Epsom Derby in 1996 but ever the optimist, thinks the best is still to come for his clients.
As well as the domestic scene David travels the world buying and selling thoroughbreds. He has travelled extensively in South America and in 2003 he was invited by his Brazilian agent TBS to visit Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay advising on the way forward for the South American industry via seminars, press and television appearances. He feels that this has given additional scope to the agency and other avenues for his clients to take advantage of.
The agency has always worked on the principle that "The Owner is King" and he is proud to be a member of the Federation of British Bloodstock agents, an organisation that looks after owners.
